The gonorrhea bacteria are carried in the semen and vaginal fluids which causes a discharge. For women, early symptoms are mild or even go unnoticed in some. |
Clinical reports have shown that some women have experienced following symptoms:
- Bleeding associated with vaginal intercourse.
- Painful or burning sensations when urinating.
- Yellow and bloody vaginal discharge with a strong odor.
More advanced symptoms, which indicates PID will include cramps, pain, and bleeding between menstrual periods, vomiting, or fever.
It is more often that men will show more noticeable symptoms such as:
- White, yellow, or green pus from the penis with pain.
- Burning sensations during urination that maybe severe.
- Swollen testicles.
Gonorrhea can also lead to rectal infection causing abnormal discharge, anal itching, and occasional painful bowel movement with fresh blood in the feces. These symptoms will typically appear 2 to5 days after infection, but could last for long as 30 days.
